Odododiodio Skirmishes, Ayawaso West Wugon Are All Manifestations Of "All Die Be Die" Leadership Ethos of Akufo-Addo

"I will instruct thee and teach thee in the way which thou shalt go; I will guide thee with mine eye" - Psalm 32:8

The character traits of a leader and what a leader espouses and stands for all have spiritual, psychological, and indelible connotations that reflects on the character traits and behaviors exhibited by their followers. Ghana's Fourth Republic era has laid bare this phenomenon which in simple terms is comparable to the adage "show me your friend and I will show you your character" and from a political leadership standpoint translates to "show me your leader and I will show you your character". Both metaphorical expressions borrow from the popular adage "birds of a feather, flock together".

From the era of Jerry John Rawlings (first president of the Fourth Republic), John Agyekum Kufuor (second president), John Evans Atta-Mills (third president), John Dramani Mahama (fourth president) to the current fifth president, Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo (NADAA), defining incidents reveal the character traits and behaviors of these leaders and the corresponding behaviors exhibited by their followers during each president's era. Former President John Jerry Rawlings aka "Papa Jay" during his time imparted on the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a "we no go sit down make them cheat us every day", "wariness and defiance of the masses against the bourgeoisies and elite class of society", and "a can do spirit". Papa Jay literally opened the eyes of the masses against social injustice, the iniquities and exploitation by the social elite class and technocrats, and the occasional machismo and exercise of military force. And despite a few excesses which cannot even be compared to the evil being perpetrated today by President Akufo-Addo and his hirelings, left a legacy for Ghana which includes a democratic system and a repaired infrastructure which had virtually collapsed prior to his emergence on the political scene.

"By faith Abel offered to God a better sacrifice than Cain through which he obtained the testimony that he was righteous" - Hebrew 11:4 (NASB)

Former president John Agyekum Kufuor aka JAK assumed power almost fortuitously on two accounts: firstly, Papa Jay had exhausted his two-term limit of presidential office, and secondly after nineteen years Ghanaian's decided they needed political change. In politics like most social endeavors timing is everything and knowing when to exit and bow out to a standing ovation is perhaps the master-stroke last act of any transformational leader. JAK despite having briefly worked under Papa Jay during the PNDC era quickly assumed the primordial default factory settings of the Busia-Danquah-Dombo (BDD) political tradition and under the guise of National Reconciliation resorted to political persecution of former NDC appointees and succeeded in incarcerating Kwame Peprah (former Minister of Finance), Victor Selormey (Deputy Minister of Finance), Dan Abodakpi (Minister of Trade), Alhaji Ibrahim Adam (Minister of Agriculture), Tsatsu Tsikata (former CEO of GNPC) etc. Indeed, JAK's persecution of former NDC's appointees was no different to the Busia regime hounding and persecution of former CPP appointees and sympathizers many of whom after the 1966 where declared wanted. JAK continued with the BDD agenda of placating themselves as competent and the best managers of the Ghanaian economy, and often justified this by criminalizing political opponents and together with support from their allies in the Judiciary and the Ghana Bar Association, always endeavored to jail some of their political opponents at all costs. Nana Akufo-Addo has also continued with this dastardly BDD tradition and act of persecution of political opponents mainly on trumped up charges with false witnesses and a judicial system packed with BBD adherents.

JAK despite the excesses nonetheless stands out as the only president from the BDD stock to have left a meaningful legacy including the Bui Dam, N1 Walker Bush Highway, some completed Senior High Schools, etc. even though thanks to the emerging Akyem Cabal in his administration, took Ghana on an embarrassing state visit to a Hairdressers Saloon in the UK for an IFC loan.

"True leaders always practice the three R's: Respect for Self, Respect for others, Responsibility for their actions" - Anonymous

Former President John Evans Atta-Mills aka Asomodwhene became president and decided to end the vicious cycle of political retribution and vindictive politics. The Asomodwhene who was a distinguished scholar and lawyer took a bold stand that he was not going to continue with the BDD politics of jailing political opponents and in the process incurred the wrath of some within his party. The Asomodwhene carried a cross which yielded a radical transformation of NDC from that of a hawkish political party with military leanings to a dovish political party carrying the white dove and ensign of "United Nation Peace Keeping Forces". Under the Asomodwhene NDC devoted its energies towards developing Ghana and building inclusivity, and left behind a rich legacy of monumental accomplishments including hospitals, educational infrastructure, roads and extension of National Grid electricity to all parts of the country and many of these projects were continued by his anointed successor John Dramani Mahama.

Former President John Dramani Mahama entered the fray to continue the good works of the NDC bequeathed by Papa Jay and Asomodwhene under challenging circumstances including eight (8) months of his forty-eight (48) months presidency wasted at the Supreme Court Election Petition by Nana Akufo-Addo a sore loser, and thirty six (36) months "dumsor" crisis orchestrated by disruption of the West African Gas Pipeline in off-shore Nigeria and the inclement weather which for two (2) years had drastically reduced inflows into the Akosombo Dam thus drastically reducing Ghana's hydroelectricity power generation capacity.

John Mahama also encountered the Ebola crises but amidst all these setbacks and challenges, rose up to the occasion and completed major landmark infrastructural projects including Ridge Hospital, University of Ghana Medical Centre, Bank of Ghana Hospital, Ga East Hospital, Kotoka International Airport Termina-3, "Dubai" interchange 48 E-Block SHS etc.

John Dramani Mahama's achievements were made under the scorched-earth dissonance and evil machinations of Nana Akufo-Addo who whilst in opposition imported into Ghana three (3) South Africa Apartheid era Mercenaries clandestinely invited to train pro-NPP Vigilante Groups including Delta Forces, Invisible Forces etc. on counterinsurgency and weapons handlings. Ghanaians following Nana Akufo-Addo's presidency are witnesses to the "pandora box" unleashed by Nana Akufo-Addo's NPP Vigilantes whose acts of rampage include raiding a Court House in session, to unleashing Azugu forces at Ayawaso West Wugon by-elections, and intimidation of residents of the Volta and Oti Regions during the recent voter registration exercise.

"The best leaders have a high consideration factor; they really care about their people" - (Brian Tracy)

Ghana's Fourth Republic is entering its twenty-nineth (29th) year milestone and with five (5) presidents so far. But have you pondered and reflected on why until the presidency of Nana Akufo-Addo, none of his four (4) predecessors recorded any incident or activities of so-calledWestern Togoland Secessionists?

And if you are a regular social media follower and patron of Facebook, Instagram or Twitter, have you come across such Facebook pages "Fans of Abdul-Malik Baako", NPP Victory 2020", "President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo" etc.; have you noticed the vile and hateful words and comments spewed out in postings by persons who gloat and placate themselves as NPP supporters? Judging from the tone of the vengeful, spiteful and bloodcurdling comments spontaneously spewed out by these NPP supporters on these social media sites, is there any connection and resonance to the Warlord Nana Akufo-Addo's battle war cry "All die be die".

The recent skirmishes at Odododiodio involving NDC supports undertaking a peaceful walk being attacked by NPP fanatics has all the hallmarks of the "all die be die" inspiration of Nana Akufo-Addo and must not only be condemned but resisted by peace loving Ghanaians.

I encourage all peace loving Ghanaians who have pictures and images of known NPP Vigilantes especially those who have been inserted into National Security and who may seek to act like the Azugu's of Ayawaso West Wugon to make these pictures and video clips available so we can have a dossier of anarchists destined for the International Criminal Court (ICC) at Hague should they decide to repeat the Ayawaso West Wuogon thuggery during the 7th December elections. It is a civic duty and patriotic duty to unmask these miscreants so that we can easily turn them over to face justice.
